Time Flies

Published on

The first time I heard that statement, the image that I had in mind was that of a dare-devil jumping out of a plane and magestically flying like a bird. It didn't mean much back then, but like most things in life, you get to understand them as you grow. Time really does fly.

So here are the key highlights that I've come to share with you, dear virtual friend.

1. Skillet is releasing a new album in January

The best rock band in the world is releasing a new album next month: Skillet - Dominion. That's definitely something to celebrate about. They released (or should I say leaked) a few songs from the album and they are really awesome.

2. I now understand the lyrics for the song BP Yangu Yakwira

For reasons that cannot be explained, I never understood the lyrics to the popular Zimbabwean song by Prudence Katomeni Mbofana, BP Yangu Yakwira. I hated the song with a passion. The signal reception (for both radio and TV) in the area I lived in wasn't too great and hearing exactly what she was saying was a really big challenge. Anyways, I listened to it recently and I still hate the song but i'm happy that I finally understand the lyrics. It's a pretty nice song.

3. Calls are important

Time flies. It's pretty easy for a lovely friendship, relationship or more to die because you stopped communicating constantly and consistently. Putting a bit of effort into keeping your friendship alive will pay dividents - call!

Does this mean that you need to be a millionaire to be able to afford the ridiculous call rates that our network providers charge? No. WhatsApp calls are quite lovely given that you both have a good network connection and that you don't call like every 2 hours. Alternatively, you could just ditch the whole calling thing and go pay your friend a visit. Make sure you tell them in advance.

4. There is quite a vibrant community of writers

Just in case you didn't know, there is an awesome community of writers - Afrobloggers. They do have awesome meetups and recently gave a few awards to talented writers. If you haven't gotten in touch, I would greatly encourage you to get in touch with them on twitter/instagram and join their community.

5. I still don't understand Instagram

Apart from people who sell their products, I don't understand why anyone would use that platform. Yes i do use it, but using a platform and understanding it are 2 entirely different things. Here's what I don't get - you post pictures then what? I think i'm growing old.

6. I want to release an album

Yes, you read that right. An epic album is going to be released by the end of the year (that is if I don't change my mind again). Get ready for an epic musical adventure!

That's all I have to share.

What were you upto my dear virtual friend?
